TAL awarded for active commitment to achieving gender equality for the eighth year

15 March 2022

Australian life insurer, TAL, has been recognised as one of Australia's leading promoters of workplace equality after being named an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality for the eighth consecutive year.

The Commonwealth Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation recognises leading organisations that meet rigorous standards in workplace gender equality and demonstrate employer commitment and best practice in promoting gender equality in Australian workplaces.

TAL Group CEO & Managing Director and WGEA Pay Equity Ambassador, Brett Clark, said TAL is committed to promoting gender equality and helping all employees feel inspired, confident, and cared for.

"At TAL we value fairness and equality in all its forms, and this recognition is central to what it means to work at TAL," Clark said.

The citation recognises TAL's commitment to enhancing gender equality through initiatives including:

  • A commitment to pay equity and eliminating the gender pay gap

  • Actively working to achieve our greater numbers of women in leadership roles

  • Equal employment policies and training for everyone at TAL

  • Providing flexible working options for all people at TAL

  • Maintaining a focus on gender equality through an active employee action group

  • Offering domestic violence leave, training and support

  • Parental leave benefits and support for all our people, regardless of gender, including continued paid superannuation for the first 12 months of parental leave, staff group insurance coverage for up to 104 weeks, and guaranteed flexible working options for the first 6 months after returning to work

"Our diversity and inclusion strategy is focused on ensuring all our people, regardless of gender, are treated equally, can perform their roles to the best of their abilities and have the same opportunities for personal growth and advancement," Clark said.

"We have a responsibility to advance gender equality in the workplace for our people, our industry, the customers we serve today and those we will serve tomorrow. We look forward to continuing a strong presence and leadership role in this important area."
